Emergence was an educational metagame I worked on to teach high school students about game design, and more specifically about the importance of goals & rules, flow & balancing, narratives and obviously… emergence. The game was a pacman-like game, in which players could adjust parameters to see the consequences of their own design decisions. We used it in a class room setting a couple of times and it worked well. Considering this was a game on a very small budget, I was quite content with the result.
