HIDDEN HEROES JAM
The Hidden Heroes Jam is a celebration of those who have shaped us. It is a game jam for creators to share the never-before-told stories of older and extended family members, teachers, co-workers, mentors, and friends – people whose wisdom have meaningfully impacted our lives. It was sponsored by AARP Games and hosted by IndieCade.
The jam was part of a research project that explores how game developers can engage in gaminiscing, similar to the methodology used for my game Brukel. The jam took place over 2 weekends and saw 126 participants from 7 countries and 7 institutes develop 33 games about their “Hidden Heroes”. One of its games even managed to win the 2023 Student Game of the Year at the Belgian Game Awards.
